Executive Committee (Elected)

This is the highest governing body ST&SC and is made up of members who are elected to their committee positions on an annual basis. In terms of tennis, the Executive Committee will be consulted if Tennis Subcommittee decisions have a financial impact on the entire club or impact on multiple areas of the club structure. E.g. Purchasing items / working parties to improve communal areas.

Tennis Subcommittee (Elected)

This is chaired by the tennis representative and is comprised of active tennis-playing members of the Executive Committee. The subcommittee is dedicated specifically to improving the tennis section of ST&SC and has a more practical, day-to-day role in decision making which is exclusive to the tennis section. It makes decisions and should be consulted on any matters which may have an impact on the tennis section as a whole. For example, Tennis Club Championships, tennis kit, regular or block bookings and other week-night tennis.

Team Captains (Appointed)

The non-elected team captains will have a monthly meeting with the tennis representative to discuss team updates, player development, any novel ideas or improvements, and their thoughts for upcoming seasons. This is as well as further informal opportunities for captains to report on what is going well, plus raise any other concerns or feedback they may have. This is then fed back to the tennis subcommittee by the tennis rep and, if necessary, can be raised at meetings of the Executive Committee.

Specific responsibilities of the team captains include:

• Management of mens’, ladies’ and mixed teams and allocating individual team captains.
• Work with the tennis rep to encourage and facilitate player development.
• Working with the tennis rep to allocate players to the relevant teams.
• Organisation of the relevant club night (Monday – Mens/Wednesday – Women).
• Submission of the teams to leagues.
• Creation and communication of fixtures lists (passed on to Tennis representative to book on ClubSpark).
• Championing match tennis including seeking out opinions/voices of team members to be passed onto the Tennis rep.
